Mentorship
An individual with life experiences that youth can recognize in their own lives. Our mentorship program is written based off of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, with the understanding that there are often going to be immediate needs that need to be addressed prior to working with the youth on internal development. This is not therapy. Mentors are intending to work with youth on: how to identify what safety looks like and how to work to achieve that as best they can in their environment, help them understand human needs and how to effectively meet their needs or ask for assistance in meeting them, what relationships / love / belonging mean to them, and how to improve their relationship dynamics, what the youth’s values and morals are, what their passions are, and will set SMART goals for their future dreams. Should the client have requirements for school, probation, or any other system involvement, the mentor can work with the youth and caregiver to complete those or find appropriate resources to do so. Mentors do have the capacity to transport clients. Mentors take notes for each session they engage with the youth. Mentors will provide monthly reports on youth’s progress. Should the youth require more frequent updates to assist with their circumstances, please follow up with this information during the referral process.
Crisis Management
Dragonfly Landing will respond to crisis situations not requiring Police presence within one hour from receiving the call with request for assistance. Should there be an active Domestic Violence scenario and /or weapons involved, we will require Police presence prior to our providers engaging with the scene. Should scenes escalate beyond provider control or toward violence, the Providers will immediately call for emergency law enforcement assistance. Crisis Management providers have experience with de-escalation, high-risk families, trauma, and hold at least a Bachelor’s level degree in a mental or behavioral health related field. Providers will connect with referring individual within 24 hours of the incident to update on how it went, safety plan, and as needed, recommendations for services or supports moving forward
Family Preservation
This service can be put into place for families that are in crisis and needing more intensive support to avoid a shift in placement of youth or parent, it can be families with youth with behavioral issues needing stability, and it can be for families that need some support surrounding their general functioning, communication, and bond. This service is hands-on, meaning that discussions are had, and the bulk of the work is done within the activities that the families do with the Provider. Dragonfly Landing’s method is to pair Mentorship with Family Preservation with the understanding that it is an inappropriate expectation for youth to demonstrate lasting change while existing within the same environment that they were in when the patterns were not healthy. When the services are paired together, one Provider is the Mentor for the youth while the other Provider focuses on the family unit work, as well as supporting the family unit within the larger systems that they engage. This allows for a greater amount of information to be shared, and further progress to be made because both sides feel as though they have an ally, well understanding that all parties are there with the intent to support the system as a whole. The first two weeks, the Provider will primarily observe the family dynamics, address any major concerns immediately, and submit a written service plan to necessary team members within the first 30 days. Family Preservation works well in conjunction with Mentorship. Family Preservation Providers will provide monthly progress reports to necessary team members.
Parent Support / Education
Providing support to parents with learning the basic skills of time management, gaining employment, transportation, and finding housing. Beyond these basics, our Providers support Parents through: establishing how to manage their home and routine, create a Parenting Plan, and wrap the service with self care / a plan to maintain a healthy parenting style long term. Meeting Parents where they are at, our Providers aim to identify barriers to success for Parents. Goals are specified at the beginning of service provision with timeframes and measures of success. Providers create Service Plans within the first 30 days and update each 30 days. Dragonfly Landing has a vehicle to assist in eliminating the barrier of Parents being able to attend non-Medicaid appointments. We have found car rides to be a highly productive space for calls, emails, and planning. Coming Summer 2023, Dragonfly Landing will offer showers and a meal share program for their Parents experiencing homelessness.
Supervised Visitation
This service aims to provide thorough documentation of Parents’ interactions and management of their children during sessions in our office. In addition to documenting their dynamics, we model the appropriate behaviors and / or conversations and show the parents hands-on as needed, how to improve their connection with and behaviors of their children. Our Parenting Time Program helps families strengthen the bond and attachment that is often disrupted via childrens’ removal from the home. The Providers are trained in Nurturing Parenting as well as Trust Based Relational Intervention. When the Parenting Time is complete, the Provider reviews the time with the Parent to speak about strengths, opportunities for improvement, and share any pertinent trauma informed / nurturing parenting information related to the observed dynamics. Dragonfly Landing works to eliminate barriers for Parents to have safe access to their children. We are proud to offer transportation for our Parenting Time services. This service allows us to shift around many scheduling barriers.
Parenting Plan
This service is intended to assist parents with clarifying the details of how they will manage care for their children. The Parent and Provider speak through parenting goals, patterns they experienced during their upbringing and which they want to shift or carry on for their own children. In addition, we give them exposure to pertinent Trust Based Relational Intervention videos and a booklet that outlines the concepts and strategies. The plan includes how basic needs will be met, what the routine will look like and how it is enforced, communication, discipline, self care, and co-parenting (as needed).
Supervised Exchanges
When co-parents are not able to have contact, but are required to exchange children for their Parenting times, Dragonfly Landing now offers Secure Exchanges. A Provider meets Parent A and children in one parking lot on one side of the building then walks the children through the building to the opposite side parking lot to meet Parent B.
IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program)
DragonFly Landing’s Intensive Outpatient Program provides a safe space for youth to develop social-emotional skills, understand themselves and their values, and navigate their environments. The program focuses on identifying strengths, stressors, and coping skills, and teaches effective self-advocacy. It aims to build resilience by helping youth recognize their value and potential to thrive. Rather than a "one size fits all" approach, the program adapts to each youth’s needs, using different activities or re-reviewing concepts as needed. It is inclusive of youth with lower IQs, learning or developmental disabilities, and behavioral challenges, and does not automatically discharge those with aggressive behavior or elopement issues. Instead, it adjusts strategies to maintain engagement. The weekly structure includes specialty days for content-heavy activities, a field trip day for off-site experiences, and a self-care day focused on personal well-being. The program is facilitated by experienced professionals, including a Licensed Psychologist, and providers trained in trauma-informed care and de-escalation.

Supervision Intervention
DragonFly Landing partners with schools to support youth in crisis. Our team arrives on-site to de-escalate and, if necessary, transports the youth to our office where they participate in our Intensive Outpatient Program. Before leaving, we work with the youth to create a plan addressing their triggers, coping skills, and interactions for the evening. We then brief the parent or guardian on the day's events and the evening plan to prevent further escalation. Our providers also develop ongoing strategies with the family and school to manage disruptive or aggressive behaviors. If a youth runs from school, we will locate and transport them back to our office for the same intervention. Ideally, youth in this program will also engage with additional support services for a comprehensive approach to family stressors.
